Organization to Organization Support, Collective Advocacy and Recovery Education
The Consortium is an active network of peer leaders and peer run organizations from around the state. Our membership includes groups that offer information and support groups for families with children who are experiencing emotional challenges; groups that provide peer counselors for people who experience mental illness; groups that provide peer provided respite for family caregivers of a person with dementia; therapeutic micro-enterprises for women in recovery from addiction; and everything in between. We all have peer support in common. Representatives from each member organization meet together face to face for two days twice a year, at our full members meetings. We share reports about what is going on in our home organizations, share funding and resource information, create collaborative projects, and explore best practices. We also meet with policy makers regularly, and discuss our collective priorities and concerns. Members meetings are an opportunity to discuss issues we are passionate about, get to know new friends, rejuvenate, find inspiration from old friends, and refresh our vision for Alaska.
