Developing, growing and nurturing peer support and peer-run services, Alaska style!
What is Peer Support and who is the Alaska Peer Support Consortium, anyways?
“Peer Support” is helping someone by supporting them as an equal. Peers are able to say, “I’ve been in a similar place and you will get past this.” We have lived experience with behavioral health issues, PTSD, traumatic brain injury, mental illness and/or substance use disorders. Peer support relationships are empowering, respectful of self-determination, empathetic, and focused on recovery and hope. We listen and believe in you!
Alaska Peer Support Consortium is a statewide network of peer operated peer support organizations. We provide services for organization-to-organization peer support, education and advocacy, and we develop peer support for communities that don't yet have peer support services yet. We find that by gathering together, by finding our shared common experience, we can take care of ourselves better and provide a model of wellness in our communities, from rural villages to urban cities. We develop, grow and nurture peer support services, Alaska style!
There are no upcoming events currently scheduled.
