Our Values
We believe in providing deliberate, intentional organized peer support.
We listen well - we use listening to each other as a primary tool.
We discover and use each others strengths to help build a responsive and effective organization.
We operate from an assumption of commonness, rather than an assumption of separation.
We underline our shared experience and vision while respecting our differences.
We accept that most everyone has wellness issues, but we talk about it, and choose to open up the curtains of our lives to deepen mutual understanding and become “peers”.
We model a holistic approach to wellness, including healthy food and activities at our meetings.
We are flexible, and our meetings have a supportive, collaborative milieu.
We demonstrate that peers can be inspiring and valuable leaders in the community.
We network and partner with our local community agencies, serving on boards, coalitions and workgroups all over the state.
Each member organization is a change agent in their local area.
We honor diversity. We actively look for new members.
We believe that grass roots peer support groups can take care of people’s struggles in effective ways that the conventional human services system simply cannot do by itself.
